Personal Background Born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on 9 April 1945, was graduated from the University Of North Carolina, Chapel Hill in 1967 with a degree in Business Administration. From December 1968 through February 1973, with a year in Viet Nam from September 1969 through September 1970, was an officer in the United States Army. Married my wife, Cherie in November 1971. We have two children, Zachary, 34 and Shantry, 27 and one granddaughter, Coryell, 3.5. Completed a masters program in Real Estate and Urban Development Planning in 1976 from The American University. Began my real estate career in August 1972 and have been selling, uninterrupted for over 39 years. From 1976 through 1988, taught various real estate courses at George Mason University and the Northern Virginia Community College. Am an active member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
Custom Category Have resided and raised my family in the Mount Vernon area of Alexandria for over thirty years. Moved to Northern Virginia via Viet Nam (Bronze Star) in 1970.
During my thirty-nine year real estate career, have sold over $282,500,000 worth of real estate through 2011.
Undergraduate degree in Business from the University of North Carolina (1967) and graduate degree (Master of Science in Real Estate and Urban Development Planning) from The American University (1976).
Hold the following REALTOR designations-CRB (Certified Residential Brokerage Manager), CRS (Certified Residential Specialist) and GRI (Graduate, REALTORS Institute).
Was President of the Northern Virginia Association Of REALTORS in 1988 (REALTOR of the Year in 1989) and the Virginia Association of REALTORS in 1993. Was inducted into the Northern Virginia Association of REALTORS Hall of Fame in 1996.
From 1976-1988, was an Adjunct Professor of Real Estate at George Mason University and Northern Virginia Community College.
From 1995-2000, was a Ft. Hunt Youth Athletic Association Girls Coach, coaching the girls to one basketball and four softball Championships.
Hobbies include swimming (swam across the Chesapeake Bay [4.4 miles] for ten years-1997-2006), wine collecting (have over 1000 bottles from around the world) and travel (have a condo in Spain, a time share in Maui and a retirement home in Florida). In May/June 2007, I walked a 500+mile pilgrimage on the Camino de Santiago in Northern Spain and am planning on walking approximately 750 miles from Sevilla to Santiago, Spain in 2013.
