La Calatrava is currently the most popular neighborhood in the Old Town of Palma. In its quiet streets and behind its magnificent gates, the traces of our Majorcan culture are hidden. Roots that are still present in this neighborhood that welcomed Jews, Christians and Muslims. It is precisely this admiration for the Majorcan culture and its history that led the current owner of this duplex to undertake a challenging renovation project that allowed the discovery and preservation of important archaeological elements. Thus, the ground floor and the first floor were unified in a duplex of open spaces with a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere. A discreet glass door at street level leads to the hall of the apartment. We advance and soon the space opens up and is flooded with light that passes through the glass structures present on the ceiling, floor and walls. The historical marés arches, carefully illuminated, frame a room that combines luxury with the calm of its natural materials. It is in this space that the Gaggenau designer kitchen is integrated into a bright dining room flanked by two charming patios. The dining room preserves the remains of an old Muslim leather tannery. Next to the kitchen we find an impressive wine cellar which is actually an old Arab water tank. On this floor we also find a complete bathroom, the laundry and the machine room that houses a sophisticated aerothermal system that provides heating, underfloor heating, air conditioning and hot water that allows savings of up to 60% on electricity bills without polluting the environment since it does not require fuel. Carefully designed stairs lead us to the first floor where light is once again the protagonist. First of all we find the living room with two rooms and access to a sunny terrace. A stone fireplace, which has been preserved intact, contributes to the well-being that this room offers. On this floor we also find a double bedroom with access to the terrace, a full bathroom and the master bedroom with a dressing room and a magnificent bathroom that invites you to take long baths. It is undoubtedly a jewel that is the result of appreciation for our culture, the efficiency and precision of its restorers.
