Gratitude and Reflecting on the Road Ahead
As we gather around the table with families and friends this Thanksgiving, it’s always nice to reflect on the things for which we are most grateful. This year, in addition to my family and friends, I’m thankful for the privilege to work with the incredible community of luxury real estate professionals as Coldwell Banker’s vice president of luxury. It’s been an honor to work with such a deeply talented group of agents, executive leaders and team members over the last three months. We may not all be in the same city at once, but our team has managed to build strong rapport in a short amount of time thanks to all of the fantastic virtual technologies made available to us through the Coldwell Banker brand. These technologies have knitted us together, for better or worse — across ZIP codes, oceans and continents — as we helped the world’s affluent navigate an extraordinary buying and selling landscape this year. Looking back on 2021, I think we can safely say that it was an astonishing year. Who would have believed a year ago that 2021 would have surpassed 2020 — a landmark year — in both sales and prices? Yet here we are. Many Coldwell Banker Global Luxury® Property Specialists have already exceeded their sales records from 2020 as high demand depleted inventory and raised prices in many markets across the country and abroad. Some of you may be wondering if it’s possible to ride this wave of unprecedented success into 2022; many of you are already looking ahead. Questions are looming about everything from low inventory to inflation and what wealthy international buyers’ impact might be on the housing market now that U.S. travel restrictions have been lifted. Thankfully, the Coldwell Banker team has powerful data-driven reports and white papers on the way that will shed light on what’s on the horizon for luxury real estate in 2022. But for right now — for this week — I encourage you to take a pause. Be grateful for the accomplishments and gifts you’ve received this year. You earned this moment.
